Doesnt detect my band! Pointless

I want it to detect my band that was the whole point of this and now it doesnt. It detects activity from movement on my phone what about when I lay in bed and give my little 2 year old niece my phone and shes playing with it next to me or I let someone borrow it, tracking a phone doesnt necessarily mean its more accurate if the phone is not in my possession. I preferred when it detected my band (which is on my wrist). I think the solution should of been a firmware update on the band not the app. Eliminating it messed up my tracking. Not pleased at all.
